On the evening of November 29th, Ms. Yeşim Oruç - the UN Resident Coordinator in Guyana, was joined by Hon. Dr. Vindhya Persaud - Minister of Human Services and Social Security, and H.E. Fernando Ponz Cantó - Ambassador, Delegation of the European Union in Guyana to light the UN House in orange in observance of the 16 Days of Activism to eliminate violence against women.
This event was hosted under the Spotlight Initiative which is a partnership between the European Union, the United Nations, and the Government of Guyana to address the root causes of gender-based violence and family violence and towards achieving Sustainable Development Goal 5: to eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls by 2030.
